Vultures of Horror Pluck Political Gain from Terror (News,
Switzerland)
"It took only hours and already certain circles knew the
answers that forensics investigators and French police were feverishly looking
for. ' It has been proven that two of the terrorists
were Syrian refugees,' claimed a widely-disseminated Facebook post. Of course at
that point NOTHING had been proven. And up to now, a Syrian refugee among the
killers has yet to be found. What has, however, are Frenchmen who fought in
Syria. … Apparently the Syrian passport brought to scene by the attackers – a fake
– had been left there to … direct indiscriminate European hatred at the
refugees just as murder was arbitrarily directed against innocent people in the
football stadium, the restaurants and the concert hall."

News –
Switzerland – Original Article (German)
When an act of
terrorism shocks the world, the vultures of horror are never far off. These
days as well, there are those in politics and on political networks who
immediately know who to blame and what to do. And "what to do" consistently
corresponds precisely to the political agenda that existed before the attacks.
How convenient.
The
negative reputation of vultures is anything but justified. We learned this from
nature shows even before the existence of cable TV. Along with hyenas (which
also have a bad reputation), these birds play a vital role in the African
savanna ecosystem.
In
contrast, vultures of horror deserve neither to be defended on nature programs nor
do they fill a vital role in any system. This was reflected in Paris after the
barbaric attacks by frustrated Islamist murderers whose lives are so
meaningless they seem to find significance only in their deaths and the deaths of
the greatest number of "infidels."
It
took only hours and already certain circles knew the answers that forensics investigators
and French police were feverishly looking for. "It has been proven that two
of the terrorists were Syrian refugees," claimed a widely-disseminated Facebook
post. Of course at that point NOTHING had been proven. And up to now, a Syrian
refugee among the killers has yet to be found. What has, however, are Frenchmen
who fought in Syria.
Apparently
the Syrian passport brought to scene by the attackers – a fake – had been left
there to accomplish the same purpose as the Facebook post about alleged
terrorist refugees: to create even more insecurity and hatred. The idea is to
direct indiscriminate European hatred at the refugees just as murder was arbitrarily
directed against innocent people in the football stadium, the restaurants and the
concert hall.
Naturally,
the exploitation of the tragedy continued outside of social media as well. All
self-respecting populists felt confirmed in their warnings about the refugees:
see, there you have it, we told you so. In the U.S., pro-gun lobbyists waited
not a day before claiming the massacre could have been prevented by a few
concert goers with automatic weapons.
But
even beyond the populists, satisfaction was disguised as feigned horror and
mixed with mistaken conspiracy. Naturally, anti-Semitic posts appeared again in
posts that claim – as they have for some time – that ISIS is in fact a vehicle of
the Mossad , and that the attacks in Paris was revenge
for anti-Israeli measures taken by the E.U.
Here,
in areas of the extreme right detached from reality, a swamp of conspiracy
theories about anti-Semitic alliances with the murderous Islamist hordes are
again taking hold.
The
reality is of course completely different and even in one thick tome is too
complex to be dealt with. Botched wars (Iraq), postcolonial interventions, all whole
supporting the legitimate Islamic State (aka/Saudi Arabia, which, by the way,
has purchased French weapons to the tune of €8 billion since 2010), a
completely failed integration policy in France and Belgium (where the previously-known
assassins came from), years of international indifference to IS which
established itself in northern Iraq, a lack of planning when it comes to the
Syrian civil war, disunity among the international community and a disregard for
the restive Middle East atmosphere are just a few of the puzzle pieces of this
grisly horror story to which the attacks on Paris and Beirut now also belong.

However,
complexity in the face of overwhelming horror simply isn’t suitable for political
gain. Relationships that don’t reveal themselves immediately are useless for
justifying demands for quick action. The realization that the roots of the
current malaise are decades in the past makes promises that this could be
resolved with sufficient determination alone and within a very short time appear
precisely to be the ridiculous lies that they were.

By Worldmeets.US
Of
course, extreme Islamists must now be located and put out
of action, preachers of hate must deported, IS must be opposed with
determination and the conflicts in the Middle East must be resolved. However, those
who promise quick and simplistic solutions; who equate the culprits and the innocent;
and all vultures of horror who pluck political gain as if it was flesh off the victims' corpses
will ensure only that this terror and difficulty will be with
us and the world for a long time to come.
