Screen grab of Islamic State propaganda video said to show a militant murder

Iraqi troops captured at former U.S. military base Camp Speicher, near Tikrit.

The Nephew of Saddam Called 'Chief Culprit' in Camp Speicher Massacre (Azzaman, Iraq)

According to Iraq's Azzaman newspaper, Sunni tribal cells are on the hunt for those suspected of the mass murder of at least 1,700 Iraqi Army troops at former U.S. military base Camp Speicher. In addition to confirming that the tribes of the Sunni Awakening are active in the battle against the Islamic State, the report says that Ibrahim Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hassan, Saddam Hussein's nephew and son of Saddam's half brother and long-time intelligence chief Ayman Sabawi, is suspected of being the chief culprit in the crime. Interestingly, it also appears that holy warriors of IS are not above graft. Apparently, the 'financial administrator' for what IS calls 'Wilayah', south of Mosul, stole $1 million from the group and 'fled to an unknown location.'

Iraq - Azzaman - Original Article (Arabic)

This news report is from August 24.

Tikrit: The tribes of Tikrit have formed armed cells for the purpose of tracking down and assassinating Daesh [aka/ISIL] militants involved in the crime committed at Camp Speicher. They are also looking for soldiers still being held by so-called prison officials and investigators of Daesh.

[Editor's Note: According to news reports and Human Rights Watch, on June 12, Islamic State militants carried out a mass killing of at least 1,700 Iraqi Air Forces cadets captured in June, when the extremists overran the former base of the U.S. military Camp Speicher near Saddam Hussein's home town of Tikrit.]

A source [who asked not to be identified] tells Azzaman that one of these tribal armed cells from Tikrit mounted a raid on the home of Mukhlis Diyaab, one of those implicated in the massacre of the soldiers at the Speicher Base in the village of Al Rbeidah, but the house was empty at the time of the raid.

The source added that the tribes of east Tikrit formed two cells to track down and assassinate the armed Daesh militants involved in the crime, after receiving news that there were Iraqi Army troops who were kidnapped and still alive at Speicher, and who are under the charge of Daesh's so-called "prison and investigation officer" Nijem Khalaf Nazzal al-Azzawi.

http://worldmeets.us/images/sabawi-ibrahim-US-invasion-playing-card_pic.jpgA source confirmed that al-Azzawi, who is from the village of Samra and in 2005 was a prisoner of American forces after the U.S. captured the terrorist Ayman Sabawi [Saddam's half brother - playing card from U.S. invasion, right] hiding in his home. It was also reported that Ibrahim Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hassan [son of Ayman and nephew of Saddam], is now in hiding with al-Azzawi. Al-Hassan is suspected of being the chief culprit in the Speicher crime, and along with other members of the Islamic State, now controls the village of Samra.

The same source claimed that the tribes of Tikrit attacked Daesh strongholds in Imam village, which led to the deaths of two Daesh members.

Mosul Residents 'Panic' Over Islamic State ID Cards

In Nineveh, chairman of the Umm Rabieen Council, Zuhair al-Chalabi, confirmed that the Daesh terrorist group has confiscated and stole property belonging to the Sunnis of Mosul, under the pretext that migrated from the central and southern provinces and hence are Shiite or Rafidah [they refuse to accept the IS-approved version of the Sunni Muslim faith]. Chalabi pointed out that Daesh had issued identification cards with its official seal, which created panic and confusion among the people of Mosul.

[Editor's Note: As to why the people of Mosul were "panicked and confused" by the issuance of Islamic State ID cards, our translator explains: "Imagine if a terrorist group occupied your country and obliged people to carry ID cards. This would have many ramifications. For one, it would suggest that the occupier was there to stay and that they are institutionalizing their presence. The issuance of ID cards also suggests that those who receive them have good records in the eyes of the occupier and suggests a kind of tacit support from those it is issues to. Thereafter, anyone not carrying such an ID can be easily identified as an enemy. As the people of Mosul are generally not supporters of the Islamic State, by accepting this ID, there is a sense of turning your back on your own beliefs, and a pretense that you have joined a terrorist state.]

Furthermore, al-Chalabi called on the Council of Representatives [the federal parliament in Baghdad] and the Justice Ministry to investigate the former speaker of the Council of Representatives [and now Iraq Vice President] Osama al-Nujaifi on charges that he tampered with, and in some cases, destroyed, provincial records.

Azzmman was unable to reach Osama al-Nujaifi to confirm this information.

Also according to Chalabi, and as confirmed by our anonymous source, the so-called financial administrator for what in Daesh calls "Wilayah," south of Mosul, fled to an unknown location having stolen $1 million from the terrorist group.
