Three of a Kind: Trump, Coulter and Dylann Roof (La Jornada, Mexico)

Mexico – La Jornada – Original Article (Spanish)

Donald Trump and Dylann Roof are neither crazy nor marginalized. On the contrary, their vile discourse and despicable actions are a natural expression of the deeply-ingrained racism that characterizes the dominant White ideology in our northern neighbor. The decline of imperial United States is generating increasingly desperate and violent reactions among those who once controlled the world's destiny. Unless we act quickly to prevent it, Mexico will be sucked into one of history's sewers thanks to a new global wave of hatred and violence.

On June 16, the New York developer and real estate magnate put a target sign on the chests of everyone in the world that resists. In a speech announcing his presidential campaign [video, right], Trump blamed foreigners and migrants for the U.S. Empire's recent lack of victories. Focusing on Mexico, he said that Mexicans aren't friends and that those who cross the United States border bring only problems like drugs, crime and violence. He finished off by calling us rapists and said that for these reasons, a huge wall should be constructed between Mexico and the United States.

[John M. Ackerman, writer of this column, interviewed at 00:11:00]

These statements reflect the views of popular commentator Ann Coulter. A few weeks ago the journalist and writer similarly suggested, during an interview with Jorge Ramos [video, second from top, right], that all Mexicans are would-be criminals, terrorists and rapists. For Coulter, the entirety of Mexican culture is clearly deficient.

Two days after Trump's statements and three weeks after the Coulter interview, Roof pulled the trigger. After months of premeditation and tremendous rage, the young South Carolinian murdered in cold blood an important leader of the African-American community and eight other parishioners in one of the most historically important churches in that community. "We have no skinheads, no real KKK, no one doing anything but talking on the Internet. Well, someone has to have the bravery to take it to the real world, and I guess that has to be me," Roof wrote in his blog a few days before perpetrating the massacre.

Friends and family members of Roof who point out that he is a completely normal young man are right. The racist manifesto with which he tries to justify his actions is terribly perverse, but perfectly coherent. It so happens that it reflects the opinions of millions of U.S. people who feel more besieged every day by an explosion of racial and ethnic diversity that by 2040 will make Whites into one more minority.

So while the African-American community was the target this time, every day Mexicans move closer to becoming public enemy number one. Roof writes that: "Hispanics are obviously a huge problem for Americans. But there are good Hispanics and bad Hispanics. I remember while watching Hispanic television stations, the shows and even the commercials were more White than our own. They have respect for White beauty, and a good portion of Hispanics are White. … There is good White blood worth saving in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and even Brazil. … But they are still our enemies." It is crystal clear that, according to the ideological trend represented by Roof, all Mexicans are scum and should be liquidated at all costs.

Indeed, in recent months U.S. police have murdered in cold blood three Mexicans: Antonio Zambrano, Rubén García, and a homeless man in Los Angeles. Likewise, the United States has no compunction about imposing the barbaric death penalty on Mexican citizens. The most recent case was Edgar Tamayo in January 2014. Mexicans are also constantly harassed and tortured on the border between the two countries, while the war on drugs, directed from Washington via military drones and through "fusion centers," has cost over 100,000 lives on our national territory since 2006. Massacres at Tlatlaya, Iguala, Apatzingán and Tanhuato evidently form part of a broader strategy to dominate and disgrace the Mexican population.

The 'Unbridled Arms Race' Among U.S. Citizens (La Jornada, Mexico)

The malinchista sycophants of the dominant U.S. culture are complicit in the bloodthirsty civilizational attack against the Mexican people. Imposed from Los Pinos [president's office], this policy puts at risk not only our national resources and public institutions, but our very existence as a sovereign country. False liberals like Enrique Krauze, Jorge Castańeda and Denise Dresser, who are attempting to turn Mexico's political system and cultural norms into a vile copy of the United States, are signing a death sentence on the whole Mexican nation.

[Editor's Note: La Malinche was a Native American translator for Spanish Conquistador Hernán Cortés in the 1500s. In Latin America today, her name stands for anyone who helps a foreigner or foreign nation undermine their own country].

It is urgently necessary to exorcize "malinchismo" before our country completely disappears from the map, before our South [Latin America] and our brown traditions are annihilated by the war machine of the declining empire.
