Livestock and women: Are Republicans listening to themselves?

Women and American Conservatives
“The intention
to force women to carry stillbirths to term - even if their lives are
endangered - is at a level of perversity and inhumanity that is usually
attributed to countries that follow Sharia law. … It cannot
be a coincidence that these are hot-button issues in the former slave-holding, segregated
states of the south, where hatred of the alien, outside world, is disguised behind
a repulsive facade of piety.”

The News – Original Article (German)
In rural areas of many a Middle Eastern country, the value
system has been handed down from the earliest days of nomadism: cows - goats -
women. But what justifiably appears utterly barbaric and obsolete to us is
celebrating a comeback of sorts in certain regions and among certain parties in
the United States - except that in the meantime, the goats have been replaced
by pigs.
The bill that was debated in the Georgia Assembly is called HB 954, and its purpose is to prohibit women from having an
abortion after the 20th week of pregnancy - even if the fetus would be
stillborn or if for some other reason, it must be concluded that the baby wouldn’t
survive the pregnancy.
Georgia Representative Terry England, a Republican, argued
for the bill with the following words: “Life gives us many experiences. I’ve
had the experience of delivering calves, dead and alive - delivering pigs, dead
and alive. It breaks our heart to see those animals not make it.” He then
followed that up with nonsense that was even more incredible (see video in photo box, above-right).
OK. Now the reasons for the conservative Republican war
against women and their fanatical fight for unborn life (because life after
birth is really of no interest, unless it joins the military or becomes
pregnant) are clear: conservative Republicans see women as domestic animals.
But unfortunately, as far as control over their own bodies
is concerned, these “animals” have won a few rights for themselves. Winning these rights was an unbelievable and outrageous struggle. Over the years, there has been an erosion of those rights - nationwide to a degree - but above all in individual states.
In the course of this process, “legislators” don’t just trample
gleefully on specific rights of women, but also infringe upon the fundamental
human rights of everyone involved, like their right to life, privacy, freedom,
bodily integrity, and the right to decide when and how they want to have
children.
The intention to force women to carry stillbirths to term -
even if their lives are endangered - is at a level of perversity and inhumanity
that is usually attributed to countries that follow Sharia law.
And this bill is only the most recent foray in a series being promoted by
“Christian” politicians that are being debated across the country or even being
adopted.
Therefore, in many places in America, the termination of
life-threatening pregnancies is no longer permitted - if the woman dies, then
that’s just the way it is: That is what God wanted - or at the very least male lawmakers,
who can now express their hatred of women in the country’s cemeteries.
All the madness is based on the mistaken notion that zygotes
should be awarded individual rights, whereas mothers who want an abortion after
being raped are denied those same rights. One fabulous argument: First of all, the
definition of rape is unclear, and women don’t really understand the
consequences of their actions, and besides, it might just be an excuse to have
an abortion that would otherwise be illegal.

It cannot be a coincidence that these are hot-button issues in
the former slave-holding, segregated states of the south, where hatred of the
alien, outside world, is disguised behind a repulsive facade of piety. Nor is it
a coincidence that, of all people, those who wish to deny young women access to
contraceptives and abortions claim shamelessly that single mothers are a threat
to society (Rick Santorum). There is method to the madness, but no logic … and
it has found a home with the Tea Party - and with its favorite Rick Santorum,
it has more than a little influence on the Republican primaries.
It should come as no surprise then, if at some point, “rape
for the purposes of reproduction” were legalized in these states (or under a
President Santorum, across the United States), since cows and sows that are
“raped” carry their calves and piglets to term. Relying on Representative
England’s considerable life experience, women should follow the example of
these creatures and stop being so sensitive - don’t you think? And if they
don’t do it themselves, there are undoubtedly a number of hate-filled,
bible-wielding, right-wing men who will do it for them.
