"Attention! A member of the Luo tribe has been installed in the White House without the world noticing. ... If Dinesh D'Souza and his supporter Newt Gingrich are followers of psychoanalysis, it's a shame they didn't think to psychoanalyze George W. Bush, who, to go one better than his father, led the world into the disastrous war in Iraq."
Conservative firebrand Dinesh D'Souza: His thesis that President Obama is channeling his long dead father has caught the attention of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
As it is now possible to posit
anything and lie about it ("The Roma are not being targeted, etc.), the
pompom of disgrace that once drove Richard Nixon to resign and made Bill
Clinton the object of an impeachment proceeding has now been bestowed on a
conservative commentator (but is he really worthy of the name?), Dinesh
D'Souza.
An Explanation.
Born in Mumbai (India) in
1961 and arriving in the United States in 1978, Dinesh D'Souza began his
career as an arch-conservative columnist in the Dartmouth College newspaper,
denouncing professors and gay students for choosing to conceal their sexual
identities. This was just a foretaste of what was to come.
In an article in Forbes
Magazine this month, D'Souza promotes his new book, The Roots of Obama's
Rage. It's the cover story in the bi-monthly long known as the
"Capitalist Tool," in an article headlined: How
Obama Thinks.
Obama Hussein Obama Junior and Senior
From this title, D'Souza
unpacks the sickest and most implausible thesis on number 44. "Obama is
trapped in his father's time machine," says D'Souza. But the best is yet
to come: "Incredibly, the U.S. is being ruled according to the dreams of a
Luo tribesman of the 1950s. This philandering, inebriated African socialist,
who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his
anti-colonial ambitions, is now setting the nation's agenda through the
reincarnation of his dreams in his son." Attention! A member of the Luo
tribe has been installed in the White House without the world noticing.
Evidently, this newly-minted American thinks Obama spent his first 17 first
years outside of the U.S.: "Hawaii, Indonesia, Pakistan," he writes,
as though Hawaii isn't part of the United States and Obama's time in Pakistan
was something more than a brief stopover when he was a student. D'Souza neglects
to tell his readers that when he lived in Indonesia, Obama's mother (a White
woman born in Kansas ...) awakened the future president everyday at 4am to
teach him American history before he left for school. But he undoutedly prefers
this hedgehog grease [aka/snake oil] psychoanalysis, as if he could judge a man he doesn't know [Obama's father], whose
anti-colonialism was widely held when he grew up in abject
poverty in 1940s-50s Kenya - a British colony.
The entire article disgraces
the one who wrote it. If D'Souza and his supporter Newt Gingrich are followers
of psychoanalysis, it's a shame they didn't think to psychoanalyze George W.
Bush, who, to go one better than his father, led the world into the disastrous
war in Iraq.
