Korea: America's 'Shock Brigades'
What is
really behind the escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula? According to
this commetary from North Korea’s government-run Korean Central News Agency, the U.S. is orchestrating the conflict
to strengthen its hegemonic alliance with South Korea and Japan.

Pyongyang: The
politico-military situation on the Korean Peninsula that was driven to the
brink of war this year, is arousing the concern of the international community.
The U.S. is entirely to blame for these alarming developments, as it has used
the peninsula to pursue its strategy to dominate East Asia.
Feeling unsettled about rapid
changes in the economic and military balance in the new century, the U.S. has
styled itself as an “Asia-Pacific state” and strengthened its “military
cooperation” with several Asian countries. It has also raised the military
pressure on China, Russia and other “potential rivals.”
The U.S. has focused its
efforts on shaping a triangular military alliance, combining the U.S., Japan
and south Korea, to maintain its hegemony in the Asia-Pacific. By escalating
the situation on the peninsula this year, the U.S. has tested that alliance.
[Editor’s Note: The North
Korean press doesn't capitalize the “S” in South Korea, implying that it is not
an independent nation].
Politically, economically and
militarily, America has strengthened the U.S.-Japan, U.S.-south Korea and south
Korean-Japan “strategic partnerships.” Their joint actions included the study
of “defense,” and “contingency” strategies, and military exercises. It then
orchestrated the sinking of the Cheonan and
the Yeonpyeong Island
conflict, using them as an opportunity to step up the formation of this
alliance. These three countries demonstrated unprecedented cooperation in these
incidents and employed every means and method possible to escalate the
conflict.

Japan and south Korea are
acting as shock troops for realizing America's strategy of aggression. The
alliance is now operational and has all the appearance of being a collective
military bloc.
The U.S. recently boasted
that it would “ensure the "security of south Korea by providing it with a
nuclear umbrella,” and that it would offer all types of ultra-modern military
hardware to modernize south Korea's armed forces.

America also seeks to turn
Japan into a more dependable bridgehead for its forces within the framework of this
triangular military alliance. The number of fighter-bombers on the U.S. base in
Okinawa is steadily rising, while Sasebo and other Japanese ports are being
turned into U.S. bases. Under the patronage of the United States, Japan has
spent a huge sum to acquire the latest in military aircraft, ground-to-air
missiles and all types of warships and tanks.
America is kick-starting this
triangular military alliance, billed as an “anti-communist crusade,” the
creation of which it has long been arranging with NATO. This is a grave and
aggressive action, and is quite contrary to the global trend toward peace.
If it wants peace and
stability, the international community should accept that it needs to foil America's
attempts to form aggressive alliances.
