U.S. Republicans Spread 'Hatred' for Political Gain
"What has occurred
to have increased the number of Americans who demonize Obama and consider him a
Muslim? What can explain the way a significant percentage of citizens are
against the building of an Islamic center near Ground Zero? It is clear that the
Republican Party has no compunction about making use of lies and prejudice to
regain power."
Those who accentuate the
divisions between people of different ideologies to the point that tolerance is
unbearable should be forced to pay for it. Those who bandy about the idea that friendship
between those of opposing parties is impossible should pay for it. Those who spread the
idea that it's impossible to coexist with people of a certain religion should
pay for the enormous potential damage. They should pay.
Starting on September 11,
2001, the United Sates had to endure the Bush era. The former president didn't show
up immediately in the attacked city. The delay was interpreted by some as a reflex
action and by others as a rejection of a city he was never fond for. Nevertheless,
even though the attack was thought to have come from a government that espoused
religious extremism, New Yorkers knew to behave in a way that reflected the
very best of their nature: in a city shaped by migratory downpours, they contained
numerous outbreaks of aggression toward the many Muslims that populate its five
boroughs.

So after two years of a Democratic
presidency, what has occurred to have increased the number of Americans who demonize
Obama, consider him a Muslim? What can explain the way a significant percentage
of citizens are against the building of an Islamic center near Ground Zero?
It is clear that the
Republican Party has no compunction about making use of lies and prejudice
against others to regain power. They do it with fury. It's not important to
them that they are splitting the country in two. Some media, dedicated to the
same tactics of feeding rage, do their work. It has done so by giving undue importance
to the pathetic burner of Qurans, Pastor Jones. While in times passed, such crap
was spread by a humble fan, the hate now travels much faster. Today those who propagate
it, I'm afraid, will never pay.
