'Japanese Militarists' Prepare for Reinvasion of Korea

Is Japan preparing to repeat its previous invasions of Korea? According to this commentary from North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency, recent comments by Japan's prime minister and Tokyo's mollification of its 'American Masters' show that it is preparing the ground for what used to be called the 'Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere.'

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan: After his recent comments regarding tensions between the two Koreas, North Korean has resumed its traditional accusations that Tokyo seeks to reprose its disasterous tendency to invade other Asian nations during and before World War II.

Pyongyang: As a "precaution," Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has called for "dispatching the 'Self-Defense forces' (SDF) to the Korean Peninsula." Under the pretense of “protecting Japanese,” he has called for developing "guidelines" for doing so. This brings into bold relief the scenario imagined by Japanese authorities for staging a return to Korea.

Kan’s reckless remarks about “protecting Japanese” are reminiscent of statements about the “protection of Japanese residents,” that the Japanese imperialists have always used before igniting wars of aggression in previous centuries.

When the Kapo Peasant War broke out in 1894, Japan hurled a 10,000-strong ground and naval force into Korea under the pretext of “protecting” Japanese residents, all in a bid to ignite the 1894-1895 Sino-Japanese War. Early in the 20th century under the same pretence, they sent aggressor troops into Korea, imposing military occupation and establishing a colonial rule.

Whenever Japan perpetrated monstrous massacres, they use the pretext of “protecting Japanese residents” and “purging” anti-Japanese forces, including the great “punitive operation” in Jiandao and the “punitive operation” in east Manchuria.

Again, it was the pretext of “protecting Japanese residents” enforced by the Japanese imperialists that brought such decline to Korea, where at least 8.4 million people were abducted as slave labor, and more than one million were killed.

Historical fact proves that the “protection of Japanese residents” touted by Japan is a prelude to aggression, war and plunder. Its intention is to hurl the "Self Defense Force" into Korea under the pretence of “protecting Japanese residents” and stage a comeback to power. Japan wants to realize its ancient dream of “The Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere,” which it failed to impose in the last century.

Japan has already deployed the main contingent of its Self Defense Force in its western region, close to the Korean Peninsula. It has passed war legislation, including the “law on the situation in surrounding areas” and the “law on the emergency situation.” During the summer, Japan let officers of the Maritime Self Defense Force board the USS George Washington nuclear carrier, which took part in the U.S.-south Korea joint naval exercises in Korea's East Sea, kicking up war hysteria.

[Editor’s Note: The North Korean controlled press does not capitalize the "S" in South Korea, implying that it is not an independent nation].

In reality, Japan has emerged as a war state, having made all legal, human and material preparations needed for fighting a war of aggression. All that remains is for Japan to secure a pretext for launching a reinvasion. To this end, Kan repeated such rhetoric as “protection of Japanese.”

What shouldn't be overlooked is that the present Japanese authorities are craftily working to justify their policy of invading at a time when the situation on the Korean Peninsula is at the brink of war due to the military clash on Yeonpyeong Island. They're fishing in troubled waters so that the situation serves their purposes. Whenever the situation grows tense on the peninsula, to say nothing of when the Korean War was fought, this has been Japan's modus operandi.

When the sinking of the warship Cheonan took place in south Korea, Japan used it to quell the anger of the Japanese people over the U.S. military base in Futenma. This was done to please their American masters and benefit by helping reinforce the military infrastructure necessary for reinvading Korea.

Japan is now so emboldened after taking advantage of the military clash on Yeonpyeong Island, that it's ready to launch a war of aggression and openly hurl its forces at the peninsula. The Japanese militarists will never realize their wild ambition to reinvade, as all Koreans are highly vigilant against it. Instead of making apologies and reparations for its past crimes against the Korean people, the army and people of the DPRK will never pardon Japan for seeking the chance to reinvade.
