Colonel
Miles Quaritch attacks the natives in Avatar. People around
the
world say that they, too, feel under a similar kind of attack.

In the Moscow suburb of Krylatskiy,
the situation is reminiscent of James Cameron's newest film Avatar,
where the selfish colonizers from Earth want to chase the native population from
their sacred land. In Krylatskiy, just as in the movie, bulldozers backed by force
have overcome the weak resistance of local residents. The authorities insist that
the demolition of these homes are legal based on a court order. "These were
very large, beautiful homes that were built by wealthy people. In many respects,
it's owing to this that the situation [the media attention] has become so
inflated," said Prefect Yuriy Alpatov of Krylatskiy's Western District.

However [despite their
wealth], for some residents of "Riverside," these homes are their
only swelling. But that's not all there is to it. The demolition order only applies
to some homes, and the legal proceedings are still under way. For example, it isn’t
clear why residents of Riverside were denied the right to register their property
and building permits under the "dacha amnesty," even though
since 1957, even indefinite land ownership documents would permit them to do so.
The excuse that the community is located in a "park area" sounds a
bit bizarre, since the Fantasy Island community, built alongside Riverside in
the 2000s (where the homes are also "large and beautiful") has somehow
failed to attract official attention. Finally, special forces and equipment were
brought into the community during the night. But according to Article 35 of the
Federal Code, "On Enforcement Proceedings," executive actions can
only occur between 6am and 10pm.
The International Herald
Tribune has reported that people in the People's Republic of China that
have seen Avatar find that it reminds them of the evictions and
demolitions of old buildings for the purpose of making way for development in
that country. Chinese officials are gradually removing Avatar from
theaters. The official reason - to support the domestic movie industry.
