Along with the Freemasons and the Zionists, the Bilderberg Group and the Illuminati are all members of that august club of organizations that in the minds of conspiracy theorists around the world, are at the helm of global affairs. Such theories are even more prevalent in the Muslim world than in the West.
Quite
often, we hear conspiracy theories about Freemasonry. When I entered the word
"Freemasonry" into the Google search engine, I came across scores of
sites attacking Masonic thought and relating it to conspiracy theories. Masonic

Let’s
examine the issue analytically and rationally. What would the West gain by
vilifying religion and bringing down the holy order?!! The few logisticians among
the conspiracy theorists might retort that the West doesn't wish to see the dissemination
of Islam around the world and consequently fulfill divine justice.
This,
however, is contrary to reality for one simple reason.
The
West actually want us to be religious, and to stay busy with pursuing dreams of
paradise and the hereafter so that right here right now, life in the here and
now can be turned to its advantage. The West could care less about Judgment Day,
who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. It will, however, if we too become
contenders for the benefits of progress, enter combat over an earthly clash of
civilizations. The West has given over to us the afterlife and all that comes
with it, in exchange for life here and now and all that comes with it. Had the
West been at war with religion, as they say, their countries wouldn't be
overflowing with practicing Muslims who enjoy freedoms not available to them in
their own eastern societies.

In
contrast, throughout history, the most prominent enemies of religion have been clerics
promoting ignorance and superstition, and who in ivory towers shut themselves
out of society. This has led to the creation of a huge gap between genuine
spiritual values and society at large. What the religious, illogical, bearded Salafists and fanatical clerics promote in ignorance and
superstition evokes little more than incredulous mirth. Furthermore, the scorn,
intimidation, and resistance they feel toward reform have led many young people
to religion altogether. Yet the clerics never fail to attribute every distortion
and difficulty of Islam to conspiracy theories.
If
we are to rid our minds of the cloud of conspiracy theories, we must clearly
see that only clerics gain anything from repeating them.

DEFINITIONS
Salafism: I use the term to refer not to its
official meaning, i.e. Wahhabism, but to any fanatical
religious movement claiming the absolute and exclusive right to heaven and the
rejection of any form of social reform, asserting that changes are synonymous
with infidelity and collaborating with foreigners.
Freemasonry: I use the term
here for refer to a mythical global organization accused of fighting religion
and promoting secular thought and atheism.
