Hillary's Tragedy
'Sorry Hillary!'
"It's a tragedy of epic
proportions with Hillary Clinton as involuntary protagonist.
Clinton deserves
better. But tragedy always finds its victim; and the more painful it is, the
better the tragedy - a tragedy that during the course of these primaries has
become quite a good one. Sorry, Hillary."

A
Hillary supporter struts her stuff ... but might
Hillary's journey be nearing an end? ...

It's a tragedy of epic
proportions with Hillary Clinton as involuntary protagonist. One might shrug
and say this is just a primary campaign struggle. But it's more. This is to witness
the last ten years of Hillary Clinton's life threaten to go up in smoke.
Already during Bill Clinton's
tenure, Hillary tried to distinguish herself. But it was then that things went
terribly wrong. The democratically dominated Houses of Congress mercilessly
delayed Hillary's elaborate health care reform plans, and the Republicans used
her involvement as election campaign ammunition, which gave them a majority in
both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate.
The result was that she was
much lass able to influence policy and had a to keep a
lower profile; she had to stand back so that in her husband's second campaign
she had almost no role. Then came the public
humiliation in the aftermath of Monicagate,"
when the President has an affair with an intern.
This period must have been
hell for Hillary Clinton, but she's ambitious, extremely intelligent and has an
ego the size of the planet. But two years before the end of her husband's
second term, she opened door that might lead her back to the White House. A New
York senator had announced he would step down [Daniel Patrick Moynihan ] and while she
was still First Lady, Hillary found herself at the end of a successful election
campaign for the office of senator, which she successfully defended in
2006. WORLDMEETS.US
Hillary Clinton was now at
the threshold of being a presidential candidate for the Democrats, and it
almost seemed a matter of formality to be decided in the early primaries, so
that with all her power should could turn to her Republican opponent and win.
It should have been her reward for years - yes decades- in the shadow of her
husband, for whom she picked up and moved to Arkansas, giving up a promising
career in Washington D.C. It should have balanced out the bill that she has
with society, and of course, it should have been a historic milestone as she
became first woman President of the United States. The plan seemed perfect, the
Republicans had hit bottom, and the opportunity seemed as good as arranged.
But then this Obama came
along. When he was a young senator in 2004, Clinton had supported him for an
open senate seat in Illinois, which he won. Maybe she saw in him a perfect vice
president; a young politician that could learn from her and succeed her. The
first Afro-American in the White House would follow the first woman. WORLDMEETS.US

An Obama supporter demonstrates
why he'll be so hard to stop ...

But Obama wanted more. He
speaks to the voters like no other politician. He mobilizes masses of voters;
once acquainted with Obama, people who hadn't voted in primaries for years
decided to take part. Many also believe that they have already had eight years
of Clinton. People believe that Obama brings change - and even if in the end
this is just a slogan, his obligation to bring it is enormous.
Of course, he hasn't yet won
- and Clinton hasn't yet lost. But the tragedy for Hillary seems inevitable, as
though she were a literary protagonist. Recently she lost Maine. Maine - women
friendly, East Coast, Hillary-country. She fired her campaign manager. She had
to loan her campaign $5 million. She stands with her back against the wall with
no idea what methods to use to stop her challenger for the throne.
Clinton deserves better. But
tragedy always finds its victim; and the more painful it is, the better the
tragedy - a tragedy that during the course of these primaries has become quite
a good one.
Sorry, Hillary.
