Osama
bin Laden; AymanZawahiri:
Seven years after the September
11
attacks, with al-Qaeda still on the loose and suspicions about the
United
States and Iran abounding, the number of theories about what
happened that day and what continues to happen seem
limitless. But
one quite persistent narrative is that there is something very
strange
about America's failure to capture al-Qaeda's leaders, after
trillions
have been spent on what has come to be called the 'War on
Terror.'

Seven Years After 9/11: Al-Qaeda Still a 'Convenient Enemy'
"On the eve of the anniversary
of September 11, AymanZawahiri,
number two of the nebulous al-Qaeda, the existence of which is mostly on
cathode-ray tubes [TV], wouldn't miss the chance; to harm his own people, the
Muslims, and to serve his putative enemies, the Americans."
the
'Tribute in Light' over the World Trade Center site, Sept. 11, 2008. Like
no other day on the calender, 9-11 remains like an open wound to
Americans. It will no doubt come as a rude shock to some that no small
number of people in other nations, especially the Arab world, are
convinced that on at least some level - al-Qaeda is doing Washington's
bidding.
On the eve of the anniversary
of September 11, AymanZawahiri,
number two of the nebulous al-Qaeda, the existence of which is mostly on
cathode-ray tubes [TV], wouldn't miss the chance: to harm his own people, the
Muslims, and to serve his putative enemies, the Americans.

In a video aired Monday on
Al-Jazeera, he mounted a rare violent attack on Iran and Hezbullah. It was a
speech full of hatred that had no purpose other than to play Sunnis against
Shiites. Since September 2001, all the actions and speeches made by al-Qaeda
have well-served the designs of the American militarists, so it isn't
illegitimate to at least consider the group an oblivious agent of its worst
apparent enemies. His violent diatribe against Iran and the Lebanese
resistance, embodied by Hezbullah, compellingly resembles the political and
warmongering agenda of the United-States.
Teheran and Hezbullah chief
Sheikh Nasrallah, both of which are regarded by
Americans as obstacles to their plans for the region, are therefore “common
enemies.” So what is al-Qaeda's number two up to? It is the theme of Sunnis-Shiite conflict that the Gulf monarchies have fuelled since the
invasion of Iraq - and even more sharply with the failure of Israel's [2006]
war in Lebanon. That undeniable political and military victory of the
Lebanese resistance [pro-Shiite, pro-Iran], remains stuck in Zwarhiri’s
throat, as much as in those of the Israeli generals and the Americans.
AL-JAZEERA NEWS
SPECIAL: AMERICA AND AL-QAEDA, 7 YEARS ON
It's comical to hear Zwarhiri accuse Iran of collusion with the Americans in
Iraq, when the blind violence practiced by al-Qaeda was used to hinder the
movement of the genuine Iraqi national resistance. These are the actions that
have created a situation of sectarian mistrust in Iraq, which were also widely
used by the occupier and its men. The goal has been to break the will to resist
sparked by the struggle of Hezbullah against Israeli aggression.

For the Americans, AymanZawahiri and Osama bin
Laden are useful enemies, who legitimate the occupation and direct control over
resources. This is just the opposite of a Hassan Nasrallah,
whose rational and determined approach is based on responsible debate and a
genuine political organization. Indeed, it is this public support and political
responsibility that renders Hezbullah so dangerous in the eyes of the Americans and
Israelis. He doesn't provide an easy pretext to invade. In Lebanon, he opposed
more fierce political resistance after the Israeli war plan - backed by the
Americans - failed.
The excesses of Zawahiri and his vindictive speeches that are in line with
certain Arab satellite media that specialize in the incitement of sectarian
hatred, have no effect beyond those in-the-know and the desperados who gravitate
around the nebulous group.
Despite the revolting hype
intended to sustain suspicion between Sunnis and Shiites, we know that
Hezbullah is a genuine resistance movement. We also know what disasters were
brought about by al-Qaeda. Finally, we know that each of its messages serves
the designs of the Westernern militarists.
