Mr. Obama: 'You
Should Think Twice Before Attacking Venezuela'
Is the United States planning military action against Venezuela? After a recent report from the German newspaper Die Welt about a joint Iranian-Venezuelan missile base being built in Venezuela, and U.S. sanctions on Venezuela's state oil company for trade with Iran, Hugo Chavez issued this statement warning President Obama to 'think twice' before striking Venezuela.
'Venezuela and Cuba have
provided models that are regarded with fear by the empire, and for this reason
it has assailed us, blockaded Cuba, and has tried to blockade Venezuela in
numerous ways," explained President Chavez from the Macarao Parish, after
inaugurating a comprehensive rehabilitation completely free clinic for the
town's people.
"I recommend to Mr.
Obama, who has already taken this step, I think very carefully before taking
the next step, which is being recommended to him by the hawks and the U.S.
Congress, which are determined to injure, weaken and destroy the Cuban and
Venezuelan Revolution."
So said Hugo Chavez, the
president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in denouncing the aggression
aimed at the country with the alleged "sanctions" against Petróleos
de Venezuela, S.A. [Venezuela's state-oil company] and warning of other
measures that he said are being considered by the Pentagon.
"Venezuela and Cuba have
provided models are regarded with fear by the empire, and for this reason it
has assailed us, blockaded Cuba, and has tried to blockade Venezuela in
numerous ways, "explained President Chavez from Macarao Parish in Caracas.
He made the remarks during
the eighth anniversary of the Mission Inside the
Neighborhood, which, the cooperation of the Cuban government and despite
the U.S. blockade against the island and attempts to blockade Venezuela, offers
free health care to the people of Venezuela.
Chavez asserted the U.S.
government considers the countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for the
Peoples of Our Americas and all those who carry out transformations in society
that are contrary to the mercantilist vision of capitalism "bad examples
to the world."
The "Comandante"
expressed his desire that, despite the many threats from the U.S. government
against various nations of the world, there will be "eternal peace for the
people."
He also recognized all of the
workers of Venezuela and Cuban aid workers that have made this mission to
"give life to others, give life to a people, and offer happiness to a
people possible. To them we express our public recognition.
