'Oh Barack Obama,
Help the Poor People of Palestine'
"The day America strives to uphold
the values of justice and equality, defends the vulnerable and supports the
oppressed, it will cease to be an easy target for its enemies."
President Barack Hussein Obama and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas: Abbas is threatening not to run for re-election and his people are increasingly pessimistic about the future.
To the esteemed President of
the United States Barack Obama:
I am one of a billion and a
half Muslims who embrace a religion that has taught us not to assault, oppress,
deceive, nor lie, and which prevents us from harming or killing innocent people
or damaging their property. Our religion urges us to deal honorably with others,
protect their human rights and dignity and pushes us toward the common good and
away from destruction. It encourages us to develop the land, pursue reform and spread
the spirit of harmony, brotherhood and tolerance and it warns us against corruption,
the neglect of the land and its people, the pollution of the environment, the cutting
down of trees and the torture of animals.
We're a nation [the Ummah] of security and faith,
justice and fairness, development and peace - and of love - seeking to bring humanity
happiness and to build a civilization based on following Allah’s teachings. We seek
no injustice toward anyone and accept injustice from no one. We cooperate with those
near and far, the friend and foe. The most faithful among us are the most
generous and don't differentiate between White skin, Red skin or Black skin.
Our message is universal and our calling is divine. We're a nation of moderation;
we tend not to go to extremes nor do we take things too seriously. We prefer forgiveness
to punishment and see tolerance as more noble than vengeance. We and the other nations
are all on one ship and their security and peace is our security and peace,
because when he escaped the flood, we were all together on the ark of Noah and we
all call Adam our father and Eve our mother.
Mr. President: America will
only be great when it shows maximum respect to the glory of Allah, respects the
values of others, preserves their rights and strives to establish rules of
justice and peace, and supports the edifices of virtue by building a culture of
mutual understanding and dialogue without discrimination and bias, arrogance
and oppression. The day America strives to uphold the values of justice and
equality, defends the vulnerable and supports the oppressed, it will cease to
be an easy target for its enemies and will count among its friends the wisest and
most conscientious people in the world - the pioneers of principle.
Mr. President, as your parents traveled from Kenya to America seeking justice
and freedom, they were preceded by Bilal al-Habeshi of
Ethiopia [picture, left], when immigrated to seek the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in
his quest for justice and freedom. Habeshi became a symbol of Islam and one of
the greatest of the greats of history and a hero of the eternal message. Our
religion was ahead of all of the world's civilizations and global agreements on
respecting human rights and maintaining human dignity.
On behalf of a billion and a
half Muslims, we urge you to recognize the rights of oppressed and surrounded
Muslims in the Gaza strip. What are the children, widows, orphans, seniors and
poor guilty of, after their land has been occupied, their homes destroyed, and their
rights deprived from them, literally confiscated? What are their crimes after the
normality of their lives has been ruined and their subsidies cut, compelling
them to live in a state of famine, imprisonment, murder and genocide without
food, clothing, medication or water?

Where, Mr. President, is the world's
conscience regarding this massacre carried out in Gaza right before the eyes
and ears of the world by a barbaric, savage and monstrous Israeli operation, which
was dictated by the law of the jungle and executed by occupying assassins who trample
on the dignity, values and rights enshrined by international agreements and treaties
of peace?
Mr. President, we call on you
in your new position to immediately and urgently intervene and put a halt to this
aggression in the hope that the brotherhood of man can be victorious.

Perhaps in selecting you, the
American people have protested the reckless and foolish policies of your
predecessor, which have decimated the land and its inhabitants, destroyed bridges
of friendship and understanding, disrupted the project of international peace,
peaceful coexistence and tolerance among peoples, damaged America's interests
and its global reputation and planted hatred of America in the hearts of the
people.
