Why Would Anyone Still Believe in the Americans?

"Civilians have paid and continue to pay the bulk of the bill for the conflict between the U.S. and organizations that were established under its auspices, chief among them the new Taliban ... Yet despite this, there are still some among us who trust the Americans!"

Since the election of President Barack Obama, who began his reign with a "historic" speech from Cairo University directed at the Arab and Islamic worlds, what has changed about American policy in the region?

In Palestine, much of the plan to Judaize Jerusalem has been accomplished and settlement activity has continued under the pretext of "natural expansion." Moreover, the blockade of Gaza continued in order to starve and subjugate our people there. In another context, the Zionist regime continued to detain 11,000 Palestinian prisoners, among whom are children, women as well as representatives elected by the people.

That's the situation as far as Palestine is concerned. But there remain other Arab and Islamic countries like Iraq where the situation hasn't improved, and that we can say without misgivings, suffer from the "state-terror" practiced by America. In some countries like Afghanistan, the situation has grown worse, so that civilians have paid and continue to pay the bulk of the bill for the conflict between the U.S. and organizations that were established under American auspices, chief among them the new Taliban.

In the new era of Obama, America is entering yet another Islamic country (Pakistan) under the pretense of fighting terrorism. Having gone so far as violating the very sovereignty of Pakistan, with American aircraft repeatedly targeting a branch of the Taliban in Pakistan, there has been an outbreak of violence that is nearly a civil war, with all of the subsequent humanitarian disasters that come from that!

Yet despite all this, there are still some among us who trust the Americans and endorse their words!
