South Koreans
Should 'Rise Up' and End U.S. Alliance
Today is
the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, which was triggered, as all American
and South Korean schoolchildren are taught, by a North Korean invasion. But
according to this article from the Korean Central News Agency of North
Korea, it was the North that was attacked. According to the government
mouthpiece, it's time for South Koreans to rise up and end the alliance with
the 'U.S. imperialists.'
Pyongyang: The Central
Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea, the National
Peace Committee of Korea and the North Headquarters of the Nationwide Special
Committee for Probing the Truth behind the Crimes of U.S. GIs, has issued a joint
public statement in regard to the passing of six decades since U.S.
imperialists provoked the Korean War.
The statement said that the
last Korean War was a conflict of aggression ignited by the U.S., its satellite
countries and south Korea, in order to stifle the young DPRK in its cradle and
realize its wild ambition for global domination. This statement also noted that
it was a war of massacre against the Korean nation that was unprecedented in
the history of war, and went on:
[Editor's Note: Pyongyang
refers to South Korea as "south Korea" - implying that South Korea is
not the proper name of a nation.]
During the war, in wanton
violation of international law, the U.S. imperialist ogres even used germ and
chemical weapons on the Korean people and hatched a plot to drop an atomic
bomb.
Due to the shuddering
brutality of the U.S. imperialists and south Korean puppet forces, millions of
innocent people met their deaths and the entire territory of the northern half
of Korea was ruined to such an extent that not a single home or even intact
brick could be found.
Branding the U.S.
imperialists blood-thirsty murderers, heinous war fanatics and aggressors
without parallel, the statement further said:

More than half a century has
passed since the U.S. imperialists, with their knees bent before the army and
people of the DPRK, signed the Korean
Armistice Agreement. But since then, the U.S. has not only committed
vicious moves to provoke a new war, it has stood in the way of inter-Korean
relations and reunification. Furthermore, it has interfered with the internal
affairs of the Korean nation and disturbed the process for improving relations.
Driven into a tight corner
after being censured both inside and outside the country and pursuant to the hostile
policy of the U.S., the Lee
Myung Bak group of south Korea is working with bloodshot eyes to escalate the
confrontation and provoke a war. It is, indeed, at the top of the class for
being servant to war and a nuclear war accomplice to the United States.
There is only one way to foil
the U.S. and the pro-American conservative group's scheme to escalate the confrontation
and launch a war against the DPRK: the launching of a nationwide patriotic
struggle. All Koreans with the blood and spirit of the nation should turn out with
dignity and honor to make our enemies pay dearly for the blood that was shed
by their fellow countrymen.
With determination, the
entire Korean nation should foil the reckless and hostile policy of the U.S.
toward the DPRK, holding high the banner of peace against the U.S. and war.
People in south Korea from
all walks of life should rise up to put an end to the U.S. occupation and decisively
break the shackles of the "alliance" with the U.S., an
"alliance" for war that is leading the nation to ruin.
South Koreans should wage a
resolute and merciless struggle to force the puppet conservative group to pay
dearly for its treachery and once and for all bury these traitors in the
graveyard of history.
All Koreans in the north, south
and abroad should deeply cherish the mission they assumed and thus force the
U.S. and Lee Myung Bak traitors to pay for the suffering and disaster brought
upon the Korean nation. It is time for a turning point in achieving the
patriotic cause of justice, peace and reunification.
