Imperialist 'War Maniacs' Will Meet 'Miserable End'

With annual U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises well underway, North Korea has reacted in its usual Stalinist form. Straight out of the Cold War, this public statement issued by the Korean People's Army Supreme Command warns the "south Korean puppet forces and U.S. imperialists" to halt their war games or meet a "miserable end."

Pyongyang: The Korean People's Army Supreme Command has issued a report in regard to the launch of Key Resolve and Foal Eagle, the aggressive joint military exercises by the south Korean puppet forces and the U.S. imperialists.

[Editor's Note: The North Koreans insist on spelling South Korea with a lower case "s" to diminish the nation's separation and belittle the South].

In a statement issued on Monday, a spokesman for the Korean People's Army General Staff strongly insisted beforehand that the south Korean puppet warmongers and U.S. imperialists stop their criminal and reckless Key Resolve and Foal Eagle exercises, branding them war games and nuclear war maneuvers aimed at mounting a preemptive surprise attack on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. But they defied the DPRK's just demand and launched their exercises for aggression on March 8.

Pursuant to an emergency order issued that same day, huge contingents of U.S. imperialist aggressor troops stationed in south Korea and elsewhere began to move. Forces from the three puppet services: the Homeland Defense Reserve Forces; the Civilian Defense Corps.; and all police, military and civilian enterprises are ready to simultaneously spring into action.

Prior to the start of these war maneuvers in the east, west and south seas, many types of warships were deployed by the imperialists, including guided-missile destroyers, nuclear-powered submarines and dock landing craft. Combined naval maneuvers are now ready, including landing exercises and maneuvers for countering intrusion by sea. These will be conducted along with the south Korean puppet navy's first, second and third fleets.

From their bases in Japan, fighter-bombers and pursuit-assault jets are arriving in the south one after another, and the U.S. Seventh Air Force stationed in south Korea are staging madcap exercises for launching intensive strikes at targets deep in the DPRK, which include close air support, air combat and naval support jointly with the puppet air force.

This increasingly undisguised saber-rattling is creating a situation so tense that a war on the Korean Peninsula could break out.

To cope with the grave situation now prevailing in the country, the Korean People's Army Supreme Command have issued the following order:

1. All men and officers of the Korean People's Army standing on the frontline, the coastlines and those in on air defense are called on to defend the outposts of the country and reliably repel at a single stroke, any attempt by the aggressors to launch a preemptive strike.

2. Once the order is issued, units of the three services of the Korean People's Army should remain in fully readiness to destroy the citadel of aggressors.

3. In the spirit of Mt. Paektu [Kim Jong-il's propaganda birthplace], all men and officers of the Korean People's Army; members of the Korean People's Security Forces; Worker-Peasant Red Guards and Young Red Guards must undergo intensive training. In every drill they must demonstrate the will to wipe out the enemy. They must remain on highly alert so as to crush the aggressors mercilessly should they intrude into the inviolable sky, land and sea of the DPRK - even 0.001 millimeter of it.

4. Every citizen must take a great leap forward and help build a thriving socialist state, each heart burning with hatred for the enemy, each holding a rifle in one hand and a hammer or sickle in the other.

This instruction by the Supreme Command is the most appropriate self-defense measure for protecting the headquarters of the revolution, the prosperity of the country and the eternal happiness of the people from the reckless moves of aggression by war maniacs.

The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK regard the dignity and sovereignty of the nation as dearer than their own lives, and will show what kind of miserable end the U.S. imperialists and south Korean puppet warmongers meet if they dare ignite a war of aggression.
