South Korea 'Declares War'

 

Have the South Korea authorities, by agreeing to take part in a U.S.-led international effort to prevent the transport of weapons of mass destruction, declared war against North Korea? According to the rigidly state-controlled Korean Central News Agency, 'The DPRK will never pardon the south Korean puppet-traitors for going mad with confrontation and war, bereft of reason as servants of outside forces in their moves toward a war of aggression.'

Pyongyang: The Lee Myung-bak group of south Korea [Lee Myung-bak is South Korea's president], in league with foreign forces on May 26 and keen on moves toward confrontation and war against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, officially declared at last that it would fully participate in the Proliferation Security Initiative - despite the unanimous opposition of all Koreans and public opinion both at home and abroad.

 

[Editor's Note: The North Korean press never capitalizes "South" in South Korea - and neither do they refer to themselves as "North Korea," as they insist that the separation of the Korean Peninsula is illegal].

 

In this regard, the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea issued a statement on May 27, stating:

 

The so-called PSI is a mechanism for a war of aggression created by the United States against the DPRK, under the pretext of intercepting and blockading ships and planes suspected of transporting weapons of mass destruction - including nuclear weapons and missiles. Due to its aggressive nature and illegality, the PSI has been criticized and repudiated at home and abroad.

 

Moreover, full participation in the PSI by one half of the Korean Peninsula, where there is an acute state of military confrontation and a constant danger of military conflict, means in itself the ignition of war.

 

The DPRK, therefore, has issued a serious warning to south Korean authorities against these moves, It has repeatedly clarified its stand that it would strongly oppose them, saying specifically that as they are pursuant to the policies of their American masters, it regards them as a declaration of a war.

 

Nevertheless, the Lee group took the step of fully participating in the PSI, an action which past [South Korean] regimes dared not do. This brings the situation on the Korean Peninsula and inter-Korean relations beyond a controllable line of a war.

 

It is preposterous for the Lee group to have opted to fully participate in the PSI under the pretext of the DPRK's underground nuclear test, which was mounted for the purposes of self-defense. There is nothing strange about a nuclear weapons state conducting a nuclear test.

 

The anti-DPRK racket kicked up by the United States and its followers which is based on this pretext is not really aimed at nuclear non-proliferation, but rather their black-hearted intention to stifle the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

 

Now that the south Korean puppets have been so ridiculous as to join in this racket and dare to declare war against their compatriots, the DPRK is compelled to take decisive measures, as it has already warned it would. In light of the prevailing situation, the DPRK solemnly declares as follows:

 

First, The DPRK will deal a decisive and merciless retaliatory blow at any attempt to stop, check or inspect its vessels, regarding this as a grave provocation and a violation of its inviolable sovereignty and territory.

 

Second, The DPRK will take practical counter-measures as though it were wartime, now that the south Korean authorities have declared war in wanton violation of its dignity and sovereignty. The DPRK will never pardon the south Korean puppet-traitors for going mad with confrontation and war, bereft of reason as servants of outside forces in their moves toward a war of aggression.
