Obama Seeks Return to 'Divvying World Among Rich'

Is the crisis over Tehran's apparent drive to build The Bomb being exaggerated so that President Obama and his Western allies can resurrect the days of Western expansion and colonialism? That's the line of reasoning in this op-ed from Iran's rigidly state-controlled Kayhan newspaper.

At the opening of the 64th U.N. General Assembly, President Obama’s nuclear disarmament rhetoric was a site to behold. As was his plea that America can't pull the rest of the world out of the incredible economic mess that their own greedy bankers got everyone else into.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, the United States declared a new world order. It was a world in which it didn't need anyone else's help. But irrespective of the claims made at the time, America's freewheeling capitalism would inevitably have hit the rocks.

So why is it, that America is suddenly chasing a global consensus? How could it be that mighty America has been brought to its knees by men who claimed to be the pillars of its financial system?

In other words, when times are good, the U.S. gets to force its policies down everyone's throats. But when the pyramid scheme of debt and paper on which the U.S. has been buying up the world come smashing down, the rest of the planet has to suddenly unite and get chummy with America. The U.S. president's latest claims are just a play for time to keep the world captivated and hypnotized by fancy words and empty promises.

Does anyone recall the pomp and ceremony last week when the U.S. president performed a goodwill gesture, cancelling a missile defense shield and benevolently creating a safer world?

In a notable show of unity and verbal resolve, President Obama, followed

by British Prime Minister Brown and French President Sarkozy, arrive to

make a statement on Iran's admission that it has built another uranium

enrichment facility, during the G-20 summit, Sept. 25.

Warsaw officials just announced that the U.S. will station short and medium-range missiles in Poland after all. This is neither as subtle nor expensive as the missile shield, which would supposedly have protected the United States from Iranian attack. This is essentially American missiles pointed toward Russia without the inconvenience of providing an adversary.

Islam forbids gambling for money, but we'd bet for free that U.S. missiles destined for Poland will possess a nuclear capability.

More conciliatory than in the past, Iranian President Ahmadinejad speaks to the U.N. General Assembly, just before being publicly challenged about the existence of a second uranium enrichment facility on his nation's territory.

Furthermore, this news makes a mockery of statements by leaders of the global powers at the U.N. General Assembly. The General Assembly has degraded into the worst kind of talking shop. It's a yearly platform for leaders of the self-promoting world powers to mock weaker nations while making promises they know they can't keep.

President Obama must already have decided that in fact, U.S. missiles would indeed be stationed in Poland and pointed toward Russia - before giving his bleeding heart speech to the U.N. about a nuclear weapons free world. In the same way, Gordon Brown was perfectly aware that Britain's oldest Trident missile submarine, the HMS Vanguard, wasn't worth given Britain's nearly trillion euro deficit, before he suggested reducing his nation's nuclear submarine fleet from four to three.

The world faces great peril due to lies and deceit. Dark days lie ahead for humanity if this is what's to be expected from leaders of the so-called world powers. Meanwhile, Iranians go about their daily routine unaware that “peace loving” Obama just began a new Cold War, and dragging Europe and Russia into once again divvying up the rest of the world among the rich.
