Ahmadinejad: 'Real' Holocaust is Taking Place in Gaza

When Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad decries Israel's attack on Gaza, many in the Arab world shout in agreement. But when he calls it 'the real Holocaust,' most would agree he's going too far. According to this news item from Iran's state-controlled Islamic Republic News Agency, Ahmadinejad commented in part:

"The killing of defenseless civilians will bring them no advantage. The capitalists and Zionists along with their supporters are at the end of the road, and have no choice but to face annihilation."

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday, in a message addressed to other nations, condemned the atrocities of the Zionist regime and its supporters in the Gaza Strip.

The president underlined that the real Holocaust is taking place now in the Gaza Strip and Palestine. The president went on to call on the rest of the world not to hesitate in backing the oppressed Palestinians of Gaza.

President Ahmadinejad lauded the heroic resistance of the noble Palestinian people being massacred by the savage Zionist occupiers. He said that innocent women, children and the pious have fallen victim to the Zionist criminals for nothing but attempts to assert their legitimate rights.

Under such circumstances, President Ahmadinejad said that the global arrogance [the United States] along with all other bullying powers, haven't failed to support these inhuman atrocities through their silence.

He underlined that the people of the world must understand that right now in Gaza and Palestine, the real Holocaust is underway, adding that the message of the supreme leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was the true reflection of the historic outcry of all oppressed peoples against injustice.

Ahmadinejad said, "It's very important for us to fulfill our humanitarian duties toward the defenseless people of Gaza and Palestine. The reason for the crimes of the Zionists is their weakness and desperation, and the killing of defenseless civilians will bring them no advantage. The capitalists and Zionists along with their supporters are at the end of the road, and have no choice but to face annihilation," the president said.

"The U.S. administration and certain European governments should understand that their complicity in these crimes will be recorded by history," he said, adding, "The Zionists, whose real face has been revealed for all, have no option but to respect the legitimate rights of other nations."

President Ahmadinejad also said that the Zionist criminals would be brought to justice in the near future.

The President said that the outcry of the oppressed in Gaza as well as other people in the region should be regarded as a warning to the mercenaries. If they refuse to halt their crimes, they will eventually have to confront all the other peoples of the world. Ahmadinejad said that the behavior of the Zionist regime is an insult to the dignity of humanity and disgraces the so-called advocates of human rights.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Is anyone listening?

"The Gazans are on the frontline of the struggle against the atrocities and savagery of the Zionist criminals. The world should take every opportunity to render support to the people of Gaza," he said.

In order to liberate Palestinians, the president also called on scientists and intellectuals, and especially the youth in Islamic regions, to cry out in protest and to maintain vigilance and readiness to help restore peace and security based on justice and spirituality.

Egypt should be urged to resume delivery of relief supplies for the women and children in Gaza, adding that lawyers should lodge complaints with the International Criminal Court to prepare the ground for bringing the criminals to justice.

Ahmadinejad also proposed that all governments and businessmen boycott products and commodities of the Zionist regime.

Ahmadinejad said that current developments in Gaza have again proven the incapability of international bodies like the United Nations Security Council, which serve only the interests of the global arrogance.

The president said the Security Council kept silence during the 33-day 2006 war in Lebanon and allowed the Zionists to attack people in that land, but that when the Zionist regime's dreams failed to materialize, the Council issued a resolution calling for ceasefire.

According to the president, there's no doubt that the world's nations are disappointed at the performance of these bodies and are looking for other ways to resolve global problems.

President Ahmadinejad reminded the U.N. secretary general that a very grave responsibility rests on his shoulders. "If the U.N. belongs to all nations, then why doesn't it do something to prevent the atrocities of the Zionists?"

Ahmadinejad said that the nations of the world call on the U.N. secretary general to stand up to the global arrogance and give voice to the outcry and protests of the people in Gaza. "With great urgency, I ask the Arab League, Arab and Islamic states and mainly Egypt, to carry out their duties and support the people of Gaza and prove that they have no affinity with the Zionist regime."

He said that the Rafah crossing point and other sea routes to Gaza should be opened to allow other governments and nations fulfill their humanitarian commitments. "If the Arab League refuses to carry out this grave responsibility, its existence will come under question."

The president also said that the resistance and the revolutionary people in Gaza and Palestine along with their leaders should understand that the key to victory is martyrdom. The brave and pious Iranian nation along with all other nations in the region and world will support the Palestinian people, Ahmadinejad said, adding that, the "victory of the oppressed, as promised by God, is near."
