Ayatollah Kashani Warns that Iran Must Be Accorded Proper Respect

"Iran is ready for talks. So don't raise such a hue and cry against Iran. Oh! the world's liars! Oh Israel the liar! Oh White House the liar! If you do attack Iran, we'll give you a response that will make you regret it."

TEHRAN: The substitute leader of Friday prayers in Tehran, Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a threat to no one, but that it would make any invader regret such a decision.

[Editor's Note: Mohammed Emami-Kashani is ninety-one-years-old, and is a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts  - which is the body that elects the Supreme leader and is supposed to 'supervise his activities.' He is most known in the West for calling al-Qaeda an 'illegitimate child of America and Israel.' ].

"... so Iran is not a threat. States in the region and even Western have said as much. They relate that Iran is ready for talks. So don't raise such a hue and cry against Iran. Oh! the world's liars! Oh Israel the liar! Oh White House the liar! If you do attack Iran, we'll give you a response that will make you regret it," said Ayatollah Kashani in his second Friday prayers sermon of the day.

Ayatollah Kashani defended the legality of the missile tests Iran has conducted over the past few days .

"Everyone knows that this is a legal exercise carried out within the borders and territories of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Many around the world have condemned claims that the this war-game is illegal.

"As to claims that the war-game is a threat, it should be said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is still in the process of securing its power in terms of technique, industry and knowledge. You (enemies) should admit to the legitimate influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran." He said Iran is as powerful as other nations, including Western ones, and that they should come to acknowledge that.

"Much of the world has come to admit that power, but the enemies do not. They only admit it implicitly, while explicitly raising a hue and cry against the Islamic Republic of Iran. But Iran's conduct over the past 30 years has been clear. Where has it been a threat? You (enemies) are the ones who were a threat - and you translated your threats into action. And how did you (enemies) do that? You pit the dirty and ill-fated Saddam against Iran. You committed crimes in Afghanistan and Iran and you continue committing crimes in many countries. And you wish to commit any crimes you can inside Iran.

That is your history and your identity. Iran's identity is transparent, clean and clear."

Ayatollah Kashani went on to say that Iran doesn't recognize Israel, but that it doesn't wish to initiate war against it, either.

Members of Iran's powerful Assembly of Experts take notes
while listening to the 'Supreme Leader', Feb. 25. The Experts
elect the Supreme Leader and 'supervise his activities.'

"Iran doesn't recognize Israel as a legitimate country because it's a usurper and has usurped another country [Palestine] ... but we don't wish to go to war with Israel now. Iran doesn't plan to launch its missiles at Tel Aviv. However, it will take action if you pound us and mount an invasion," he announced.
