General Norman Schwarzkopf: Enshrined forever in the pages
of Kuwait history. He died Dec. 27.
General Norman
Schwarzkopf Role 'Second Only to Allah's' (Al Qabas,
Kuwait)
"You may have
left the flesh, but your name and mighty role will remain rooted in the memory
of my compatriots, who pay respect to the roles of great men and their deeds.
Your great role in liberating Kuwait is second only to Allah's. When you
liberated Kuwait from an oppression that made men cry even before women, you
were a great commander. Thank you to everyone who participated in our
liberation. Thank you to our brothers in humanity - wherever they are."
Unlike in the past, no nation's history can be reserved for
its citizens alone. The history of any nation must be expanded to contain the
name of anyone in the world who has served it. Who among us doesn't remember
the role and name of retired American General Norman Schwarzkopf, who so
brilliantly led the coalition armies, and from south to its north, liberated
the soil of our country? He is a man whose image was imprinted on our
consciences even before his name entered the pages of its history. He was
commander and a hero of Operation
Desert Storm, which he oversaw brilliantly and relentlessly. For us,
it was a great war of national liberation from an unjust and oppressive
aggression.
He is a champion whose name was enshrined in the sands of
our nation's desert long before it was written in the pages of its history. If
I were able to travel to his country to participate at his funeral, I would
have been there. Since my son told me of his death, I have been in a state of
sorrow. Hence, on behalf of myself and all loyal Kuwaitis, I send our sincere
condolences to every member of his family and to our friends the American
people, U.S. President Barack Obama and former President George H.W. Bush.

To you great man, we send our

Finally, as a modest service from us to him, his family and
his country, we should feel a duty to name any military facility after retired
General Norman Schwarzkopf.
