Zimbabwe despot Robert Mugabe: No fan of gay marriage … or is he?

Mocking Same Sex Marriage, Mugabe 'Proposes' to Obama (Pulse, Ghana)

"I’ve just concluded, since President Obama endorses same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance, [that] if it becomes necessary I shall travel to Washington, D.C. to get down on my knee and ask for his hand. … I cannot understand how this people [Americans] dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord when he prohibited mankind from sodomy."-- Zimbabwe Dictator Robert Mugabe

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has challenged U.S. President Barack Obama … by asking for his hand in marriage. His comment comes at the back of the legalization of gay marriage by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mugabe, during his weekly radio interview with Zimbabwe state-run ZBC radio on Saturday, said "I’ve just concluded, since President Obama endorses same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance, [that] if it becomes necessary I shall travel to Washington, D.C. to get down on my knee and ask for his hand."

"I cannot understand how this people [Americans] dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord when he prohibited mankind from sodomy," said the recalcitrant Zimbabwean leader, adding that the American government is run by "perverted Satan-worshipers who insult the great American nation."

Mr. Mugabe went on to say that American tradition and heritage is based on lofty Christian principles, but that to the detriment of this great nation, America’s corrupt political elite is acting according to its diabolical whims.

Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage, the first from a sitting president, came amid growing pressure for him to clarify his previously-muddled opinion as two of his senior staff announced their personal support for gay marriage - and just a day after voters in North Carolina approved an amendment to the state constitution defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

The statement brought an immediate reaction from Obama's former opponent.

“My view is that marriage itself is a relationship between a man and a woman, and that’s my own preference,” Mitt Romney said at a brief news conference in Oklahoma City after Obama’s remarks were released.

“I know other people have differing views — this is a very tender and sensitive topic, as are many social issues. But I have the same view that I’ve had since running for office.”

Romney backs a federal constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and was opposed to the Massachusetts state court decision legalizing gay marriage issued while he was governor.
