Israel's
'Blinding Deafness'
"The
international community knows that it must confront the radicalization of the
Israeli establishment. … The fight against Islamist terrorism certainly demands
a final solution to the Israeli-Palestinian problem. To believe anything else
is to have ignited the fire!"

They are correct - all
those Israeli intellectuals, beginning with the historians, who are ever-more
insistently questioning the very future of the state created in 1948. The big
question that hangs over everyone's mind is the sustainability of this entity,
built at the expense of the Palestinian people. In short, the Zionist
transplant doesn't seem to have taken well to its Middle East environment. Of
course, out of this existential question, a process of negotiation should have
emerged to bring peace to the brave. But it must be said that the current
mechanism, which began in the euphoria of the Madrid Conference
of 1991, quickly revealed itself to be inadequately matched with the
legitimate and internationally-recognized aspirations of the Palestinian
people. And it is around this Gordian knot that
negotiation, and henceforth the instability of the world, hinges.

It's not for nothing that
the U.S. administration, lead by Barack Obama, is now attempting to break the
deadlock in the peace process. And Washington isn't the only capital city in
the world battling over this region of instability. Yet Israelis officials
are showing the worse kind of deafness a state can display. The ruling
coalition, one of the most extremist since the Israeli political system was
founded, doesn't intend to make any concessions to those whose rights have been
deprived. On the contrary, they are increasingly tormenting the Palestinian
people - torn apart on two separate pieces of territory ...
Hamas and Fatah - the inter-Palestinian dialogue: 'Of course
we want a solution to the
Palestinian problem. But we hope
the problem is never
resolved.'

That's to say nothing of
the Diaspora. Tel Aviv is fueling the atmosphere of radicalism while insulting
the future. The Israelis want it all, and offer nothing in return. This is
reflected by their growing temptation to steal Al-Qods
[Jerusalem], the status of which should have been the subject of a negotiated
deal to make it the capital of a viable Palestinian state. The process of “Judaizing” this holy city is
progressing with the heavy sound of jack boots - and even if this allows Iran
to use it as an outlet for such radicalization.

The international
community knows that it must confront the radicalization of the Israeli
establishment. Their deafness is blinding in the case of the disposition of Jerusalem, without even mentioning the other outstanding
problems. Neither Obama's special envoy nor Tony Blair has managed to be heard
... and a fortiori make the voice of reason
heard by the irresponsible ones in Tel Aviv who have decided in the place of
the international community. This outrageous position doesn't honor the actors
who play "envoy of the lord" [missi
dominici] as it confronts them with their own
failure. Thus, should we close our eyes to the tragedies unfolding in a
confined space in which the slightest spark could set the region on course to a
complete conflagration? This is the dark perspective looming on the horizon.

The international
community - and first of all the Arab world - is called upon to react strongly.
Because an excess of injustice produces a sum of frustration
- and with incalculable consequences. The fight against Islamist
terrorism certainly demands a final solution to the Israeli-Palestinian
problem. To believe anything else is to have ignited the fire!
